OPTIONS TO COME TO US:
Once you've arrived with the ferry (here you can find ferry timetables) from Mindelo to Santo Antão, there are three options for getting to Aldeia Manga:
1- RENT A CAR
There are now several car hire companies on Santo Antão.
Cars can be collected and returned at the harbour in Porto Novo. There are also companies that have cars available for collection directly in Paúl.
You can book some of these companies online here.
We can also organize a car for you and have it delivered on arrival if there is no availability online. Please enquire by email.
Alternatively, there are several other providers right in the harbour building.
2- SHARED TAXI / PRIVATE TAXI
Two further ways to get to Aldeia Manga:
1 - The trip with the shared taxi (Colectivo/Aluguer) from Porto Novo to Paúl, Passagem and finally to Lombo Comprido (Long Hill) costs 500 Escudos (4,50 euros) per person. You will find a driver asking for "Colectivo para Aldeia Manga". Our recommended driver is called "DU".
2 - A private taxi will cost either 50 euros (total price) along the newly paved coastal road or 65 euros (total price) along the old cobblestone panorama street to Aldeia Manga. By request the driver will stop to allow for holiday snapshots, to let you document your first impressions forever.
3- HIKING DOWNHILL
Walk from the top of the valley down to us
Those looking to immerse themselves into the island life from day one can opt to cut the private taxi ride short. Disembark at Cova Crater instead and hike to us from there.
The trekking path is relatively challenging and takes approx. four hours (8km) to descend over 1.100 meters along a steep mountain path. (Not good for people with knee problems).
The luggage will be delivered by taxi right to Aldeia Manga - you can walk without luggage ! Details and directions, including a sketch, will be sent to you via email.
